Aman is a well-informed, respectful and sincere boy, who works hard at honing his already great talents – particularly in drawing, painting and story making. His efforts, aptitude and attitudes are sure to bring him great success in anything that he undertakes.

This is a true story. It was a bright and sunny day over the streets of Delhi, capital of India. It was quite hot but that’s what made it even more fun to enjoy cold ice creams. The mood was electric, joy was in the air, it was Basant Panchami, the arrival of spring. With the flowers

blooming, I was even more excited for tomorrow. It was my grandfather’s birthday and I was baking a cake for him. He loves sweet things, so I had to improvise (extra sugar) but otherwise it was an incredible experience with a lot of chocolate flying around. After helping me with the cake my mom put on her pink mask (compliments of our house help. Something about colored clothes with the white) and went out to buy some groceries. I then went to play with my sister.

My mother had returned and was working in her home office. She said that she was on an important call and we were not supposed to enter. We were so engrossed in our game of hide and seek I did not pay the slightest attention to the time. I only stopped when I realized it was about eight thirty or so. I decided to eat some dinner, but I wasn’t too hungry at the time. I went to bed at about ten to ten. At about midnight I woke up. I drank some water but as I sat there, I started thinking about food. I was hungry at midnight! This can be taken care of by only one thing, a midnight feast! Not daring to turn the light on, I snuck out of my room and came out the door. I was at the stairs
when I heard the unmistakable sound of footsteps. My heart skipped a beat as I slowly turned around, it was pitch dark, but as my eyes were adjusting to the brightness, I didn’t see anything.
I rubbed my eyes and almost fell down the stairs the hard way because of what I saw. This, readers, is where I introduce my lovely dog magic. She is a Labrador and is black in color. She loves food and was also thinking of the midnight feast. I was not happy with this. She would slow me down and if she barks then she would give away our position. But If I didn’t take her along then she would definitely get angry, so I decided to stick with the first option. We have our own way of communicating, if she likes something then she will very slightly nod her head, but if she doesn’t, she will bark. We could not have her barking, so I did my best to keep her happy. I said, ‘one Oreo only’. Well, she did not like that one bit. So, I offered two. She was ok with that, so we finally made our way down the stairs.

I knew where all the creeks were so this was easy for me. I had now reached the hard part. I opened the kitchen door but as soon as I pushed, just a little bit, I heard the most horrible noise. The kitchen door. The noise was more than enough to wake someone, but I supposed it was fine as no one came. After a few attempts, I finally got the kitchen door open but now came the final challenge. I opened the fridge door, maneuvered my hand around several of the glass bowls, bottles and finally, reached the Oreos. In my excitement, I very nearly dropped a metal bowl to the ground, but I was lucky that It didn’t fall. I turned around and was walking out of the door when I saw a figure.

I slowly opened the door, I peeped out and saw my father outside. I carefully got out and he showed me the thumbs up. He pointed at the Oreos and then at the tv room. He then put a finger to his lips and went in. I entered and saw him turning on Netflix. I sat down and saw a
movie, and only when I saw what time it was, did I start feeling sleepy. But a sudden noise woke me up. It was magic. I had forgotten her two oreos! I heard my mom and fled the TV room.
